The first Bahamas Surf Association surf contest took place on Sunday 23rd November at Garbanzo's on Elbow Cay, and despite the challenging conditions (head high plus NE swell with a heavy rip to the south, cool and gusty onshore winds) there was a great turnout and good surfing by all the competitors. Thanks to all those who came out to support the young 'uns, Rachael for the Krispy Treats, Brooke for the "Garbanzo Crunch", Charmin for the cookies and Christine for the drinks. Thanks also to Scott, Chappie and Jeff for the judging.

Mini-grom: 1st Christopher Albury, 2nd Tristan Albury

The first contest of the 2009 Winter Season kicked off on Sunday 18th January at Garbanzos, where competitors were treated to a pretty solid chest to head high plus NE swell and light onshore winds. The good conditions brought out a record number of competitors in the Open Mens Division which finished with a fiercely contested final and some really hot surfing. Thanks to the Guana Cay boys for coming up for the contest, which was well worth it for Joshua Sands who surfed his way to 1st place in the Open Mens division -- congratulations Josh! The boys are looking forward to hosting a future contest in Guana Cay.
