Bahamian Surfers Do Well At ESA Surf Contest
Congratulations to the father and son duo of Tim and Jake Albury, who recently  competed in the last ESA event of the regular season held at Sebastian Inlet, Melbourne, Florida, from 31st January to 3rd February 2008. "The waves were the best I have ever surfed in Florida!" said Tim, "the waves at the inlet were two to five feet over the course of the event, with sunny skies and a great vibe on the beach."
Elbow Cay local boy Jake Albury competed in the event, where he made a great comeback to international competition, after recovering from major knee surgery last year. He won his first heat to kick off a great run, where he made it to the finals in his division, bringing home the sixth place trophy! He served notice in Florida that he is on their level and will be a major threat in the future!
Another Bahamian competitor was Blake Sands, from Guana Cay, who was the top finisher in his division and will be doing major pro events soon. He is surfing at a very high level and it is great to see how humble he is and friendly to everyone. We can all be proud of our very first pro surfer from the Bahamas! I doubt he will be the last!
